| The
quarry is located near of Anllares del Sil (Páramo del Sil), province of León (Spain).
The slate belongs geologically to the "Dominio de Navia - Alto Sil of Pizarras de Luarca " (Mid-Ordovician). It also presents a sub vertical
schistity from the first Hercinic phase.
It is
a grey slate that comes in two variations: Dark-Grey slate of light-medium grain and the Plain Grey with a bigger grain. Both
slates are very resistant.
Its main
minerals are sericite, quartz and chlorite, and some quantity of rutile.
The slate
is worked in pieces for roof finished with a natural cut. The sizes range from 22 x 16 cm to 60 x 40 cm. Its thickness can be 4 - 5 mm; to
8 mm. It is marketed by ROCABER has as RF-50.
Thanks to
physical-chemical characteristics of this slate is very indicated as material
for roofing.
