| The
quarry is located in "Sotillo de Cabrera, Benuza, province of León"
(Spain).
This
deposit belongs to the "Agüeria" formation (Medium - Upper Ordovician).
A slow grade regional metamorphic process
related to the first Hercinic phase formed the slate of this quarry.
It is
a black slate of fine grain presenting very light lineation. Its main minerals
are sericite, chlorite and quartz, with very few metals present. It has
a very good cut, solidity and resistance to flexion and to environmental
aggressions. It is a superb slate.
The slate
is produced in sizes from 22 x 16 cm to 40 x 22 cm, the most common size
is 32 x 22 cm, with a thickness of 2,5 mm / 4 mm. The reference name is
RF-40.
The physical-chemical characteristics of this slate makes it very good
for all building applications being an excellent performer in any climate zone.
